Notable Achievements

1985 – Chinese Elders’ Housing Award “Yiht Sam Gung Yihk” (Passionate for Public Welfare).  Received for work as the executive secretary of a Chinese team that developed an apartment complex for elderly Chinese citizens in Saskatoon.

1990 – Community Award for the Canadian Mental Health Association, Saskatchewan Division.  Received for initiating new programs in the field of mental health as executive chair of the Saskatoon Special Needs Housing Committee that developed supportive apartment dwellings for “street people” in Saskatoon who suffer from mental disabilities.

1991 – Honoured with a D.D. (Honoris Causa) Victoria University, The University of Toronto.

2013 – Invited Speaker, Chinese University of Hong Kong, 50th Anniversary Celebration – Department of Religious Studies. Invited to speak at the 50th anniversary celebration, having served as the first Head of the Theology division between 1966 and 1975.

2022 – Having lived a good life, spent with a lifelong partner, Paul passed away peacefully at home with family by his side.
